Brassbanned (brassbanned.com) is run from Australia by Tim. This page explains, in plain language, what data the site touches and what happens to it. The short version: we run no ads, we set no tracking cookies, and we collect as little as possible. We would rather point cameras at cornets than at you.
What we collect directly
Almost nothing. Brassbanned is a static website. There are no accounts, no logins and no profiles.
Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track you across sites or build a profile of you. It gives us anonymous, aggregate numbers such as page views, country and browser type, so we know which broadcasts people love.
Email you send us. If you email [email protected], we keep the email so we can reply. That’s it.
The “Talk to Handsome Tim” chatbot. Questions you type are sent to our answer service (built on Cloudflare Workers AI) so it can reply from the Brassbanned archive. Questions are not linked to your identity. Please don’t type personal information into the chat; it’s for banding questions, and it only knows about banding anyway.
Services we use that may process your data
Video (YouTube and live streaming). Replays are embedded from YouTube. The full YouTube player only loads after you press play; once it loads, Google/YouTube may set cookies and collect data under the Google privacy policy. During live events, video is delivered by our streaming provider, which processes your IP address for the sole purpose of getting the stream to your screen.
Live chat (Cbox). The chat on our live pages is provided by Cbox. Anything you post there, including the name you choose, is visible to everyone watching. Cbox processes chat data under the Cbox privacy policy. Golden rule of a public chat: don’t post anything you wouldn’t announce from the stage.
Email list (Mailchimp). If you join our email list, your email address is stored by Mailchimp (Intuit) under the Mailchimp privacy policy. We only use it to tell you about streams and Brassbanned news. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing works immediately and forever.
Donations (PayPal and Patreon). Payments are handled entirely by PayPal and Patreon. We never see or store your card details. We do see your name and what you generously gave, which mostly results in gratitude.
Hosting (Cloudflare). The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses as part of delivering and securing any website it hosts, under the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Cookies
Brassbanned itself sets no tracking cookies. Third-party services above (YouTube after you press play, Cbox chat) may set their own; their policies are linked above. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time and the site will keep working.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not run advertising. We do not use tracking pixels. We do not build audience profiles. We are exceptional in many ways, and this is one of them.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act (and the GDPR if you’re watching from Europe, which plenty of you are), you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we’ll sort it out. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Children
Our streams are family-friendly and watched by plenty of young players. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; there is nowhere on the site to enter it even if you tried.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we’ll publish the new version here, with the date updated above. Big changes will get a mention on a stream, because that’s how we announce everything important.
