Hello once again loyal brassband viewers you’re in for a treat tonight we’ve got another exclusive interview with Mr brassband himself Bruno Bruno how are you going this evening good very good um wow I like the title Mr brass band Mr brass band but it’s kind of true though you play with most of the Brass Band going around in
Victoria don’t you yeah some of them no I’ve played a lot throughout the last three years of four years I enjoy it so I don’t mind helping out the bands as well which bands you playing with this year for Nationals 2012 uh this year I’m only playing with two I’m playing with monei Valley C grade and Diamond
Valley with and bgrade excellent and what what are the test pieces for CGR and bgrade do you remember oh wow um cgr’s a really good one I’ve actually forgot the name of it but it actually starts off with like Extreme Makeover then it has a bit of Batman in there has a bit of um everything in it but it sounds really really good it’s ah it’s sounds like a tough one sounds like a tough one there for the
C graders we look forward to hearing them play it through what about bgrade do you remember that one yeah b-grades cross p patons and uh yeah that that’s an interesting piece as well interesting piece as well you heard it here first on brass band Bruno you say you enjoy playing in brass bands what is it about brass bands that you really enjoy um um oh well uh just the um the camaraderie
I suppose um I really like playing cornet so um any chance that I get to play cornet um I take the opportunity and um just like the music I grew up with it um my family has no brassband background how did you um start off in brass Bands then if your family’s got no background what was sort of the first step uh
First Step was a friend of mine she had to play an instrument at school and it was she picked the trumpet and her school teacher was Veronica Bowman at the time and um so she got introduced to the hurg Brass Band and brought me along and the rest is history I suppose there we go now Bruno is
Mr brassband of Victoria sounds better than brassband geek sounds a lot better than brassband geek but none of the brassband viewers think anything of brassband Geeks Bruno thank you for joining us tonight who’s your prediction to win B and C grade and even a grade what what’s your predictions come on uh predictions um I think a grade
I got a feeling might be a different um winner this year sorry Q um I’m hoping it’s Q or one of the um melbour bands but I got a feeling it’s either going to be at Brisbane or excelsia or ganada excelsia or ganada for a grade any ideas about bgrade um I’m hoping it’s us but if it’s not it’s okay um no to be honest
I’m not sure about bgrade but um as long as we we can do just as good as what we did last year um we’ll be happy so yeah excellent and CGR any idea who else is playing in CG grade I apologize to all the C grade brass bandies out there I’m not very familiar with who’s in C grade but
I will do my best to find out before National seade Bruno seade plenty heaps of Melbourne bands in SE grade um hopefully we’ll be the top seade band out of all the Melbourne bands and um if that makes us win that’ be great but um I think uh sunsh Sunshine will be hard to beat because they’re moving up to b-grade after
Nationals so that’ll be the band to watch out for I think four weeks till Nationals I know scary are you prepared how’s Diamond Valley going I think we’re uh very prepared as we can be for for out uh we all know our pieces which helps um Danny’s a hard task master so he’s got us um uh rehearsing very hard we’re rehearsing two nights a week now so that’s a big commitment is that a sort of a full band two nights a week you’re getting or yep uh we’re getting full band two nights a week uh we seem to get maybe one section that’s a little
Bit lower on one night than compared to other nights but um saying all that we do get at least above 20 every rehearsal which is which helps because um the more bums on seats the better the music will sound excellent and what about money Valley oh they’re amazing band they’ve got uh I think we’ve got one player too many for this year’s
Nationals which is a great way to be and everyone’s been turning to rehearsals so we get average 28 rehearsals if not more so that’s amazing that’s fantastic so you got too many players to go on stage with what’s how are you dealing with that well how are they dealing with that over there um I’m not sure actually
I think the might one person will miss out for one day and and someone else will miss out for the second day but um depends you know who knows if you don’t turn up to rehearsals then you might not be no but yeah we’ll see I’m not sure I’m glad I don’t have to make the decision sounds like a tough one for whoever’s in charge bra
Bruno thanks for joining us I look forward to catching up with you for a lemonade during Nationals I can’t wait for that lemonade
