Pre-Nationals Interview: Kew Band Melbourne

Hi Loyal Viewers,

As promised, I’ve started to publish some of the interviews I’ve had a chance to make so far. Unfortunately I won’t have a chance to get around to all the bands – although I’m doing my best to speak with representatives of all the Victorian Bands. I’m driving up to Brisbane next Monday / Tuesday, so if anyone on the east coast feels like an interview, please send me an email to awesome@brassbanned.com and we’ll try to set something up.

Also, please make sure you’re keeping an eye on the Brassbanned Facebook Page – I’ll be posting lots of updates there in the lead-up to and throughout the competition. I’ve even made a Facebook Event for the live broadcast – make sure you like the Page, Join the Event, and invite any and all of your friends and family who would enjoy watching the live broadcast.

I caught up with John Conway from Kew Band Melbourne last week – he agreed to a quick interview, and we talked about how the band is preparing, what their Own Choice work is, as well as the ambitious plans for a street march win!

Enjoy…

Brassbanned: Not Just Brass Bands

Sounding great at yesterday's concert!

Brisbane Brass: Sounding great at yesterday’s concert!

Hi Loyal Viewers,

I’ve had a few requests over the last few days about the non-brass events at the upcoming National Championship. I’m very happy to confirm that I will be live broadcasting as much of the Wind Band sessions as I possibly can. There may be some overlap on the Saturday morning with the Street March, but other than that I’ll be streaming almost everything that happens.

I’m actually taking at least 2 complete streaming setups to the competition – one for each of the main auditoriums. I haven’t yet had a really good look at the schedule, but I know that the A & B grade brass events will be in one hall at the same time that the C & D grade bands are running in the other hall, on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. In other years, the Wind Bands have played on the Saturday in between. I think that is probably what will happen this time as well! There will also be junior Wind Bands playing on the Thursday before Good Friday.

So, please spread the word to any and all lovers of either wind or brass band music that there will be a smorgasbord of entertainment on offer this Easter Weekend, live on Brassbanned.

Hope you’re all doing well. I’m ok – thanks for asking.

The 2014 Australian National Band Championships happen in 2 weeks time! I will be bringing you live streams of absolutely everything – as well as heaps of lead-up interviews. I’m doing my best to get around to as many bands as possible. If you feel left out, send me an email and I’ll get in touch with you as well.

I’ve also updated the website – I hope it doesn’t offend your eyes too much…

Keep an eye on the site – lots of updates to come over the next few weeks!

Brass Fest 2013

Hi Loyal Viewers,

Next up, I’ll be streaming the Competition-Formerly-Known-As-Fabb: BRASSFEST. The competition takes place October 5 and 6, at QPAC in the heart of Brisbane, Australia. Brassbanned will be bringing you all the action from the Sunday of the competition – covering the ‘Entertainment’ section, as well as the Gala concert. I will be putting a schedule up, including bands and times as soon as I hear what’s going on.

Tickets are still available at the door, and I strongly suggest that anyone with about 3 hours of Brisbane makes the effort to get to QPAC to hear some sensational performances, and support brass banding!
